Public Enemy is a blistering, rowdy take on the family drama. Three generations (and one combative squirrel) gather over dinner to argue about current events, family finances, and culture, with everyone looking to blame someone else for society’s ills in this satirical examination of how judgment can both divide and unite people. Winner of the prix Michel-Tremblay in 2015, Public Enemy is a family dinner you won’t soon forget.

The Director and Producer
MARCIO BEAUCLAIR/ DIRECTOR
Marcio Beauclair is a queer director and playwright based in Toronto. He holds a postgraduate diploma in Theatre/Directing from the Celia Helena Centre for the Arts in São Paulo and a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Rio de Janeiro. Marcio is the artistic director and co-founder of Expandido Theatre Group, which produced The Rage of Narcissus at Theatre Passe Muraille. He is the director of Public Enemy at Alumnae Theatre, a play he considers a Canadian masterpiece. His next project is a radical reimagining of Medea titled Kill Your Father.
ROBYN SHEPHERD/ PRODUCER
This is Robyn’s first producer role at Alumnae Theatre. She is a seasoned stage manager with Mainstage, New Ideas, and Fireworks productions under her belt. She’s thrilled to present this indie interpretation of Public Enemy to audiences.
The Actors
JANIS BOASE/ELIZABETH
Jan started theatre and acting classes after retirement from corporate Canada in 2016. She’s been in several plays in GTA theatres, in the TV series The Office Movers (Crave) and See No Evil (Prime), a Hallmark movie, and several commercials. “I enjoy the excitement of television, but stage remains my first love – creating something together through hours of collaborative effort.”
JORDAN KEWELL/TYLER
Jordan is an actor with a passion for storytelling, trained in Acting for Film and Television at Niagara College. He’s performed in festivals across Toronto, winning Best Male Performance for the show Hitch at the InspiraTo Festival. Some of his favorite roles include Win in Genie-ology (New Ideas Festival) and the Police Officer in Things We Lost in the Fire (Fringe Festival). Whether on stage or on camera, he’s always chasing honest, engaging performances that connect with audiences.
KIMBERLEY ANN CROSCUP/SUZIE
Kimberley Ann is an actor who writes and produces! She is a graduate of both the 3 Year Conservatory Program at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Neighborhood Playhouse Summer Conservatory in New York City. NYC highlights include playing Margery in Vinegar Tom and The Friar in Romeo and Juliet. On the Alumnae Stage, she’s played Tess in The Female of the Species, Mrs. Daldry in In The Next Room, Jessie Mae in The Trip to Bountiful, and various roles in String of Pearls.
VALERIE CARRIER/MELISSA
From Montreal, then in London (UK), Valérie played in Ring (Camille), Under Milk Wood, Les Belles-soeurs (Germaine Lauzon), and The Orphan Muses (Isabelle). In Toronto, she performed in short movies, notably in On a Sunday at Eleven (Best Live Action Short Film at the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards). Valérie’s work with Alumnae includes Albertine in Five Times, Boom Baby, String of Pearls, If We Were Birds, and Gun play (after the gun goes off).
WILLIAM MACGREGOR/DANIEL
William MacGregor (he/him) is a theatre artist and doctoral candidate at York University with a keen interest in political theatre, verbatim and documentary performance, health and disability policy, and arts-based research methods. Recent acting highlights include Bartender in Back to the Bar (Toronto Fringe) and William Dover in Terror by Gaslight (Village Players), and he is thrilled to be back at Alumnae after several New Ideas Festivals.
TREVOR CARTLIDGE/JAMES
Trevor is thrilled to be involved in this production of Public Enemy. A Toronto-based actor/comedian /director, Trevor is happy to be back on stage again with the Alumnae Theatre. Recent credits include King Edward in Richard III (Panoply Productions), Mr. Sanson in The Lost Heroes of Oro (Elgin Theatre), and Arnold in All That She Wrote (Toronto Fringe). All his love to his boys.
AUDREY KEATING/OLIVIA
Audrey Keating has been involved in the performing arts since she was three years old, when she joined the Canadian Children’s Opera Company. Recent highlights include Mal Beineke (The Addams Family, Young Company, Randolph Kids), Caroline Kraft/Caitlyn Caussin (Mean Girls, Monarch Park Collegiate), and The Customer (Little Shop of Horrors, Monarch Park Collegiate). Audrey is in Grade 12 and enjoys anime, reading, and gaming outside of theatre.
The Production Team
ALEX SIMAS/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR + STAGE MANAGER
Alex Simas is a creative director, writer, and producer with a background in branded entertainment – developing product launches, award ceremonies, and immersive experiences for international brands. His passion for theatre and behind-the-scenes work began with a high school production of Godspell, and he hasn’t left the backstage ever since. In Public Enemy, he serves as stage manager and assistant director.
REBECA COSTA/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Rebeca’s passion for performing arts started at when she was six years old after she joined her school’s theatre group, dance troupe, and choir. She studied Musical Theatre Performance at the Randolph College for the Performing Arts in 2021. With her stage experience and directing skills, she’s working as assistant director and acting coach for Marcio Beauclair’s Public Enemy, written by Olivier Choinière, at the Alumnae Theatre. She is an admitted linguaphile, fluently speaking Portuguese, English, and Spanish, while working on her French.
RENATO BALDIN/SET AND COSTUME DESIGNER
Renato Baldin is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist, curator, and set and costume designer. His current work focuses on immersive art installations reflecting an immigrant and queer perspective. He designed the set and costume for the plays Public Enemy (2025), Kill Your Father (2025), and The Rage Of Narcissus (2022). He is a recipient of the Newcomer Mentorship Grant from TAC in 2022 and Aluna’s Digital Lab Residency in 2023. His recent art installations and exhibitions include Uninvited Dinner Guests and Fluids (2024), Queerleidoscope (2023 and 2024), Narcissus (2023), Non Exhibition (2022), Rocking Futures (2021), and The Empathy Museum: Walking in your shoes (Brazil, 2017).
BRANDON GONCALVES/LIGHTING DESIGNER
Brandon Gonçalves is a Toronto-based lighting designer for theatre and dance. He is delighted to be working with Alumnae for this production of Public Enemy. Other lighting design credits include The Rage of Narcissus (Expandido), Paradise Lost, Peer Gynt, Good Mother, and She Loves Me (Randolph College), Back and Forth: The Musical (Nightjan Productions), Jillian Jiggs and A Number (Solar Stage), and the critically acclaimed The Seat Next To The King (Minmar Gaslight Productions).
JULIAN HENAO/SOUND DESIGNER
Toronto based, Julián Henao is a Colombian musician working in theatre as a composer, sound designer, and actor for more than 20 years. He studied music composition at McGill University with Denys Bouliane and studied anthropology and theatre as he pursued his interest in social sciences and visual and performing arts. He has collaborated with various music ensembles and theatres in Colombia and Canada. His music combines elements of orchestral, acoustic, electronic, and synthesized genres. Julián has written music for documentaries, theatre, short films, public events, festivals, radio spots, audio theatre, and more.
EILEEN WHITCOMB/ASSISTANT PRODUCER
Eileen (she/her) was born and raised in East York. She is excited to be working as the prop mistress, a stagehand, and the producer’s assistant for Public Enemy. She is glad to be returning for her third year of production volunteering at Alumnae! She is currently pursuing a degree in Religious Studies.
MARK BATH/ANIMATIONS
Mark Bath is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, originally from Newfoundland. He studied Dramatic Literature and Performance & Communications Media at Memorial University, later completing a Bachelor of Design in Illustration at OCADU. His work combines dance, animation/filmmaking, projection installation, and printmaking. Recent works include Someone Else’s Dream (2022) at The Festival of New Dance in St. John’s and at Fluid Festival in Calgary (2023) and What Are We at Hold Fast Contemporary Art Festival and CB Nuit (2024). As artist-in-residence at Banff Centre (2023), he began developing Dream No. 2, performed at Interplay (2024).

Alumnae Theatre’s Berkeley Street entrance and the Mainstage Theatre are wheelchair accessible. There is a wheelchair accessible restroom on the ground floor.
